Donor sperm can be used within IUI or IVF/ICSI when a partner's sperm cannot be used, or in family-building situations where permitted by law. Screened donor sperm is prepared in the laboratory before treatment.
When donor sperm may be used

Donor screening
Donor sperm is typically quarantined and the donor screened for infectious diseases and, where appropriate, genetic conditions, in line with applicable standards.
